We’ve already got stores all over the UK, but we’re growing all the time and there are always plans to open new sites. Our Local stores can be found not only on high streets and in city centres but also in other locations such as local neighbourhoods and train stations. So we’re not just offering customers choice and convenience, we’re making a really positive contribution to Britain’s communities too.
We may be the smallest type of Sainsbury’s store, but we are leading the way in developing the Convenience sector with others starting to copy our approach. Our awards for Convenience Retailer of the Year are evidence of the high standards you can expect. If you’re ambitious, you can go far further in your Local than you ever imagined possible.
Our Local stores can be found all over the UK and aim to make a positive difference to the communities we’re part of. Each and every store is part of a community and we make sure we connect our business to the local area. Not only are our stores convenient for customers, they’re often close to home for our colleagues too.
Our stores offer customers more choice and variety than they expect from a local convenience store and we believe it’s the same for our colleagues too. Because Sainsbury’s Local is a smaller retail environment, you can gain much more exposure to retail operations, earlier in your career. If you want to learn, develop and grow, this is the place to do it!
Wherever you work, it’s the people who make the difference. Many of our customers are regulars, so you often get to know them and they get to know you. It’s a close-knit team in the Store too, so everyone knows each other, works together and helps each other out.
Our people are what really make Sainsbury’s Local a great place to work. They’re amazing. From Colleagues to Managers, they all work together to create a great store atmosphere, to meet targets and to make Sainsbury’s Local the best convenience store there is.
Because we have so many opportunities, we attract lots of different people. People who need a part-time role close to home. People who want to learn all about retail in a fast-paced environment. People who want to get management experience early in their careers, so that they can move up fast.
