Stage 1

Application Form

At this stage we look at your education and check that you are comfortable with what the Graduate Scheme involves.

We also look at what drives you and your approach to solving the types of problems you will come across within Sainsbury's.

Stage 2

Verbal Reasoning ability test
+
Numerical Reasoning ability test

At this stage we look at your level of reasoning ability relating to dealing with written information and also numbers and tables.

Stage 3

Application Form Review

At this stage we look at your application form in greater detail, exploring your motivation for joining Sainsbury's, in addition to your work experience and extra-curricular activities.

Stage 4

Telephone Interview

At this stage we explore some key examples of your behaviour, to understand your level of competence in key areas.

Stage 5

Assessment Centre

At this stage we explore a range of key competencies that will underpin your success at Sainsbury's. The exercises you will take part in are: an interview, a group exercise, a role-play and a presentation.

Eligibility Criteria

Own Brand Scheme minimum criteria:
- At least a 2:1 degree classification
- B in GCSE Maths and English
- 1 A and 2 B's at A Level

We are looking for graduates with food-related degrees such as:
- Food science/technology/chemistry/marketing
- Microbiology
- Nutrition/dietetics
- Agricultural Sciences
- Other science related degrees such as
  Biology/ChemistryPhysics

Property Scheme minimum criteria:
- At least a 2:1 degree classification
- Any degree discipline although degrees in Engineering,
  Architecture, Geography, Construction, Sciences and other
  Property related degrees are ideal
- B in GCSE Maths and English
- 1 A and 2 B's at A Level

Placements minimum criteria:
Criteria for placements are identical to the criteria for our graduate schemes. We recognise you may not have graduated at this point, therefore we ask that you are on track for a 2:1.
