To join our Own Brand or Property Graduate Scheme we require an undergraduate degree at 2.1 or above. Is there a closing date for applications?
Applications for our Own Brand Graduate Scheme and Placements are closing at midnight on Sunday 18th December 2011. Assessment centres will be held in early January 2011, so we strongly recommend you apply as early as possible to have the best chance of securing a place.

Can I apply more than once in the same year?
No - we only accept one application per candidate per year.
If I am unsuccessful when can I apply again?
You can apply again after a period of 12 months has passed.
How long is the Own Brand Graduate Scheme?
The Own Brand Scheme is 2 years long, the first four months of which will be spent in-store understanding how stores operate. Back at our Store Support Centre you will complete various placements across Own Brand before spending your second year more focussed on placements that will lead you on to your long term aspirations.
How long is the Property Graduate Scheme?
The Property Scheme is 2 years long, the first four months of which will be spent in-store understanding how stores operate. Is there a probationary period?
Yes - we have a three month probation period.
What are the typical working hours for the Own Brand Graduate Scheme?
We are a leading retailer who prides ourselves on giving great service to our customers.
We expect all graduates to be flexible in their working arrangements to suit the requirements of our customers and our operation. Graduates on the Own Brand scheme are contracted to work 37 hours a week Monday to Friday although the nature of our roles often involves a lot of travel (within the UK and abroad) so you may be asked to work outside these hours from time to time. Further on in your career, this may involve occasional weekend working or on-call availability, depending on your role.

We are a leading retailer who prides ourselves on giving great service to our customers. We expect all graduates to be flexible in their working arrangements to suit the requirements of our customers and our operation. We have provided more information below on the expected working patterns by programme.
The graduates on our Property Graduate Scheme are contracted to work 37 hours a week Monday to Friday although some business areas may include occasional weekend working or on-call availability during your scheme and as your career progresses. When you are doing placements or roles in an operational environment, your working hours will be 39 hours a week, Sunday to Saturday, typically including evenings and 3 out of 4 weekends.

If I'm successful when can I expect to start work?
Our Own Brand Graduate and One Year Placement Schemes commence in September 2012. Summer placements will take place from July - August 2012.

Where could I be working for my store placement?
All of our Own Brand and Property Graduates begin with a four month placement in one of our stores to ensure you gain a real understanding of our customer's needs and how your role can make a difference. Your placement will be based in a store within London. We will discuss this with you further if you are successful in obtaining a place on the scheme.
I don't have a visa to work in the UK. Will Sainsbury's support me in my application?
Sainsbury's is in the position of only accepting applications from resident workers and those overseas nationals who can prove their ability to work within the UK. If you are successful in obtaining a position with us, you will be required to provide your original passport, or other original documentation proving your eligibility to work in the UK.
I am an overseas student and am having difficulty in converting my qualifications to UK qualifications. Where can I get help?
