Summary of the Role’s Main Purpose
Responsibility for all ranging and merchandising across our Petrol Filling Stations and Kiosk categories, creating optimal ranges to deliver maximum customer satisfaction and financial performance.
Responsibility for managing fuel pricing to all our Petrol Filling Stations and preparing financial reports and analysis as required.
Principle Accountabilities
To create an ideal product planogram, adhering to dressing rules and merchandising principles, to minimise impact on the supply chain and in store availability.
To incorporate latest merchandising techniques and display equipment to drive sales and availability.
To improve planograms through “best in class” standards of display and space efficiency.
Focus on range performance through analysis of performance data and considering future market/product trends.
To incorporate customer segmentation data to inform ranging decisions to achieve optimal business and customer satisfaction.
To review competitor range and display techniques and trends and providing feedback.
To analyse pre- and post- range implementation to understand the category performance by store cluster/product/metreage. Identify and resolve any issues on retail compliance.
Differentiate range to satisfy customer’s needs in line with agreed formats.
Communicate ranging issues and recommend solutions within the category and across key areas.
Address and respond to store queries relating to range and merchandising issues in a timely and efficient manner.
To interpret, apply and deliver corporate and category strategies through product knowledge and range selection.
To manage, implement and maintain the optimal ranges in accordance with defined business processes and corporate range authorisation timescales.
To fully understand the role of the buyer and work in partnership to deliver enhanced financial performance and customer satisfaction.
To review and make recommendations on PFS macro and micro space using trading intensity data.
Management of fuel pricing to all petrol filling stations
Preparation of financial reports and recommendations for weekly, periodic and quarterly reviews between Category Manager and Board.
Completion of adhoc financial analysis to support key Petrol & Kiosk projects.
Measures of Success
Sales, Market Share, Gross Profit and Wastage.
Successful & timely implementation of category plans and range reviews.
Delivery of range activity to corporate procedures and timescales.
Resources available to the Job-Holder
Trading and Supply Chain teams.
Support from Ranging, Trading Systems and Operational Space team.
Level of Decision-making Authority
Determination and recommendation of range across all formats.
Recommendations compiled on appropriate data highlighting all range opportunities.
Assigning products to space within defined macro space parameters
Recommendations on macro space in Petrol Filling Stations, utilising trading intensity data available.
Core Areas of Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Graduate calibre with a minimum of 3 years commercial experience within a retail environment.
Maths A-Level/degree preferable. Evidence of completion of financial analysis.
Advanced Excel skills.
JDA experience preferable – if not experience of using other industry ranging tools
Effective communication and influencing skills.
Effective leadership, organisational and project management skills.
