Summary of the Role’s Main Purpose
To execute the sourcing and selection strategy for a given group of products within the Business Unit framework set by the Category Manager. To achieve optimum cost through effective negotiation, supplier Management and identification of most cost effective sourcing routes
Principle Accountabilities
• To execute the sourcing and selection strategy for a given group of products
• To negotiate optimum product cost with suppliers
• To identify most cost effective global sourcing rotes into the UK distribution network
• To implement Business As Usual activity, defined as lever mgt; Pricing, Promotion & Ranging, within the frameworks agreed by the Business Planning Manager
• To develop and implement supplier business plans and set specific performance targets for suppliers
• To work with the Category Planning Manager to measure supplier performance and manage areas of under performance
• To liaise with Supply Chain and Retail teams to ensure store service and availability targets are met
• To liaise with the Business and Category Planning Manager to identify future commercial opportunities
• To support the implementation of NPD and EPD within that product area
• To liase with the Product Technologist/Developer where required in setting the quality criteria for own label products, ensuring the optimal balance between quality and price is maintained
• To regularly review own label products against their appropriate competitor benchmarks

• Successful and timely implementation of revenue and profit business plans

• Retail prices measured in line with Marketing framework for those products
