At the Sainsbury’s Group, we live and breathe our values everyday. As one of the UK’s most prominent food, clothing and general merchandise retailers, it’s vital to us that we source quality products our customers want at the right price, with fairness and integrity.

We’re the UK’s market leader for many of the product lines that we source in Asia. Our teams here – whether in Merchandising, Technical or Support – are committed to building a business based on our values, working with suppliers to build great partnerships and ensure we’re delivering on our commitments to sustainability, protecting our environment and supporting communities.

Our teams

Each of our offices – Hong Kong, Shanghai, Delhi, Dhaka – has its own unique culture. But all our teams, no matter where they’re based, are connected and play an important part in helping us achieve our vision of being the most trusted retailer.

All our colleagues – right across the operation – are committed to sourcing high-quality grocery, clothing and general merchandise products. Wherever you look, you’ll find people who are passionate about the product, sustainability and ethics and, most importantly, put the customer at the heart of everything they do.

Merchandising is made up of committed professionals who make sure we have great quality product at the right price that meets our customers’ needs – all sourced from suppliers who share our vision and values. We have exciting talent throughout – from Heads of Category to Merchandising Managers and Merchandisers at all levels.

The Technical team are an integral part of our sourcing function and work alongside our merchandisers and our suppliers. They make sure that the quality and safety of our products is never compromised, and we reach the high standards that our customers have come to expect from us. Here you’ll find experts including Heads of Technology, Technical Managers and Quality Technicians at all levels.

Our Support teams keep the whole operation running smoothly across our four locations. In this part of the business, we have subject matter experts covering HR, Finance, IT, Office Admin, Supply Chain and Ethical.

Our culture

We take great care in creating an inclusive and diverse working environment, where people can be themselves. We’re passionate advocates of growing our own talent, investing in development and promoting from within. Training and development within our supply base is also important, so we organise regular workshops for our suppliers led by our own colleagues and subject matter experts.

As this is an agile, contemporary, open-plan working environment, you’ll have to be the kind of person who thrives on collaboration and winning as a team. We also have a culture of constant – and fast-paced – change, so you’ll need to enjoy thinking on your feet and have the proven ability to deal with ambiguity. But if there’s one characteristic we look for above all others, it’s the ability to adopt a customer-first mindset in everything you do.

An understanding of international cultures and how they connect is another part of what makes us who we are. Wherever you’re based, you will form great relationships with colleagues in the UK and in other offices across Asia. And in some roles, you can expect to travel to those locations as the business need arises.

Our locations

Whatever challenge you take on with us, and wherever you’re based, you can look forward to a working environment that puts people first, a business philosophy that treats suppliers as partners and a future where ambitious career goals can be realised.
