Joining Sainsbury's as a Trade Planning Manager means being part of an impactful and energetic team at the heart of shaping our short-term trade response and long-term planning. With the unique opportunity to work across all our brands and channels, including Sainsbury's, Argos, Tu, Habitat, and Nectar, you will play a crucial role in orchestrating the development and execution of a bold Trading Plan. Collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, you will have the chance to influence and collaborate with senior leaders, driving commercial plans that deliver an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. As a Trade Planning Manager at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in co-ordinating a broad range of inputs to deliver an integrated trading plan and a singular narrative that ensures cross-functional teams align in how we serve our customers. Working closely with functions such as Commercial, Digital, Retail, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance, you will define effective plans and deliver large-scale trading initiatives. Your responsibilities will include leading end-to-end event planning and execution, regularly reviewing and adapting the plan, translating and challenging planning inputs, supporting the PIR process, representing GM in various forums, collaborating with reporting and merchandising teams, and working closely with the Sainsbury's and Argos A & R teams to ensure effective trade execution. Additionally, you will need to understand the tensions and drivers between commercial, operational, and customer performance, while mobilising resources and playing a role in creating an inclusive, values-driven culture. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both short-term trade response and longer-term planning, collaborating with stakeholders across all brands and channels of the organisation.

 

What you need to know and show

  • Strategic orientation & well-developed hypothesis led problem solving capability.
  • How to take a directional brief through to a comprehensive, multi-functional plan, and deliver it
  • Experience and working knowledge of multi-channel retailing across a number of commercial, analytical and operational disciplines such as Commercial, Digital, Marketing, Retail and Supply Chain
  • Strong understanding of the corporate strategy, goals, and customer insights.
  • Strong project management experience and organisation skills, with experience of working collaboratively and cross functionally.      Demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver projects
  • How to create strong stakeholder maps, define ARCI’s and enhanced ways of working.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills – you know how to work through ambiguity and evolving priorities at pace
  • Ability to chair or facilitate utilising a range of coaching, presentation, or problem-solving techniques, that can be utilised across multiple functions and audiences
  • Highly competent in developing a broad range of engaging, relevant content, or analysis, utilising a variety of tools including to but not limited to Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel
