What you'll do
As the Eggs Buyer in our Dairy Team, you will play a vital role in a strategically important agricultural supply chain, where the need to think strategically combined with an ability to drive strong relationships with supplier partners will be key to delivering market leading outperformance. The role will challenge you to become a procurement specialist by developing a deep commercial understanding of the egg industry and the cost of production, building product and supplier closeness through site visits and regular communication.
You will work cross-functionally, identifying opportunities for new product development, and cost savings and make key decisions that will involve influencing stakeholders and using financial, market, and customer data. Furthermore, you will manage the relationships with our Sainsburys Egg Group Farmers and Packers, which will be a key enabler in delivering structural, strategic change.

As a Buyer for Sainsbury's Buying Teams, you are a highly experienced professional with a proven track record in negotiating with suppliers and optimising product ranges to deliver quality and value to customers. With your strong commercial acumen, you develop and execute customer-focused category plans aligned with the company's strategy, aiming to sustainably grow market share and cash profit. Your ability to analyse financial, market, and customer data allows you to identify opportunities for product improvement, new product development, and cost savings. Collaborating cross-functionally, you review product ranges, make key decisions in buying and selling strategies, and effectively manage supplier relationships to achieve performance objectives. With excellent communication skills, adaptability, and resilience, you navigate complex information, influence stakeholders, and lead relevant projects to successful delivery.
