Whether you’re out on the road, or greeting a customer with their shopping, you’ll be an ambassador for Sainsbury’s at the heart of the community. As a delivery driver, you’ll be working independently to make things happen at pace, with a positive attitude and professional service.

Being a driver for Sainsbury’s, you’ll be part of a winning team. Giving our customers a great online experience and helping us to become the first choice for internet grocery shopping. We have full time and part-time roles, and you’ll have guaranteed hours, so you can plan ahead.

What we expect from you

Being a Sainsbury’s Driver isn’t just about delivering goods on time and in great condition–your customer service skills will be just as important as your talent behind the wheel. We’ll expect you to make every delivery a great experience, always doing the right thing for our customers and keeping them aware of any delays, so they ask us to drop their shopping off again and again.

You should be over the age of 18, with a full UK driving licence and one years’ driving experience, and no more than six points on your licence.

How old do you have to be to apply for a delivery driver job at Sainsbury’s?

We require our drivers to have twelve months driving experience which means only those ages 18 and over can apply. 

Do I need previous retail-specific experience to be a delivery driver at Sainsbury’s?

You do not need to have had previous experience in retail. We look for certain qualities in our drivers, so if you demonstrate fantastic communication skills and have a friendly, helpful attitude, your application will be considered. You’ll receive on-the-job training to help you with the rest. 

And of course, you need to have at least one year’s worth of experience driving with a valid UK driving licence.

How many points can I have on my licence to be a delivery driver at Sainsbury's?

You’ll need to have no more than 6 points on your driving licence. 

You’ll also need to complete a driving assessment test as part of your interview.

Yes, all of our drivers have guaranteed hours so that you can plan ahead
