More about the role:
  • To manage the development of the XD accessibility standards and guidelines and QA framework for all of Sainsbury’s Digital products
  • To provide guidance an expertise on accessibility best practices across the Sainsbury’s Digital ecosystem
  • Provide guidance to product managers and wider Sainsbury’s colleagues on responses to user complaints regarding accessibility
  • To write and provide guidance on appropriate training courses for developers, designers and product managers to drive understanding and awareness of accessibility
  • Connect with all diversity and inclusion teams across Sainsbury’s to ensure a joined-up, collaborative and innovative approach to developing an effective accessibility strategy that will benefit all customers
  • Network and connect with accessibility experts from the wider industry in order to keep up to date with developments in accessible design and be the voice at industry groups such as the Business Disability Forum Technology Taskforce
  • Contribute to user research by defining accessibility objectives, approaches and methodologies
  • Create a knowledge bank of relevant research papers or articles for use by all teams
What we’re looking for:
  • Expertise in the use of contemporary assistive technologies and device native accessibility features
  • An excellent understanding of accessibility and usability for people with sensory, motor or cognitive disabilities and have experience of user research 
  • Confident in designing and conducting accessibility testing in a consumer-facing environment
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working collaboratively across multi-discipline teams – especially designers and developers
