As the Delivery Manager you will be responsible for the management of our food services partnerships delivering food concessions in-store. You will be the Buyer for these subcategories, managing key suppliers including the commercial relationship and delivering the property programme in liason with the Sainsbury’s Property team.  You will work with cross-functional colleagues to realise the category vision and deliver incremental sales and profit for Sainsbury’s. Working alongside the proposition manager you will support in landing new trials and help identify opportunities for improvement, building these learnings into new partnerships.


What you need to do

Maintain and drive commercial relationships with suppliers

·        Understand the market for your products and your category performance within that

·        Continually review and evolve the product offer with partners, ensuring decisions are data and insight-driven, identifiying a programme of iterations and deliver these

·        Manage unique service providers and suppliers; including relationship management, commercial agreements, service levels and contractual terms

·        Negotiate the best commercial position for Sainsbury’s where appropriate

·        Own the pricing & promotional strategy

·        Support the development supplier plans for the category

·        Set and deliver stretching performance targets for sales, profit and net contribution improvement

·        Report on performance using tools available, providing insights into performance drivers and opportunities for improvement

·        Conduct Post Investment Reviews of new major change initiatives

·        Resolve any contractual disputes with partners, working with Legal Services to make any necessary contractual amendments


Project management and cross-functional working

·        Identify, define and, where appropriate, manage new major change initiatives

·        Secure funding for projects as required and manage spend appropriately within agreed limits

·        Work closely with all members of the team day-to-day; build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional and cross-category teams to ensure proposition strategy  and actions required are clear and well understood

·        Engage with category teams to facilitate implementation of buying and selling strategies, including supplier management, providing clear guidance and strong rationale


Leadsership and people management

·        Show leadership capabilities and manage the relationship with our Category Assistant

·        Coach, manage and support direct reports’ training and development plans


What you need to know

·        Product, market and consumer knowledge particularly around Food Service and hospitality

·        Relevant trading systems and processes 

·        Ability to analyse and interpret data

·        Able to think creatively and bring new ideas to the team 

·        Able to exercise judgement in the face of multiple, and sometimes conflicting, demands

·        Effective communicator; understands the importance of, and builds, a network around the wider business

·        Effective project management and organisation skills particularly with respect to major cross functional change initiatives
