Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Macro Space Analyst to join our Commercial Operations team in our Central London head office, based in Holborn. This role places you at the centre of the largest change programme in Sainsbury’s history. Your analysis and recommendations will influence key decisions on the major “Win in Food” strategy, while also granting you exposure to multiple stakeholders across all functions in the broader group. You will be responsible for creating the optimal space allocations to deliver the best commercial and customer outcomes.

As a Macro Space Analyst you’ll:

Support a Macro Space programme of change across Food space that will successfully deliver the corporate strategy.

Manage analytics across key programmes impacting Food space

Be one of the key contacts in space for trading teams across Convenience, PFS & GOL; working closely with multiple stakeholders across the business to deliver incremental sales, volume and profit growth.

Work alongside internal and external teams to support the development of our industry leading tools and models

Work with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders to get buy in for these models e.g. Strategy, Trading, Finance, Retail and Property

Constantly evaluate the performance of stores and categories to ensure we spot opportunities to improve our utilisation of space

Provide support to Macro Space Manager on various space projects as and when required; and take ownership of projects assigned.

Support wider space team with commercial tools to support landing most effective changes on floor plans

Clearly articulate outputs from space analysis; and understand the impact they will have on various stakeholders.

Be aware of category vision and how space optimisation can drive sustainable growth as well as achieving strategic initiatives.

Ensure deadlines in critical path are met, managing time effectively across projects.

Achieve positive balanced scorecard of measures relating to customer choice, financial performance and operational compliance.

Develop expert systems and data capabilities through attending relevant training courses & supporting tool development work.

Engage successfully with stakeholders across various functions.

Become recognised as an ‘expert’ in space recommendations.

Our Macro Space team would love to see:

Commercial and broader Grocery market understanding

Analytical – experienced and skilled in data manipulation and analysis with ability to focus on key issues

Effective communicator - understands the importance of, and builds a network around the wider business

Effective organisation and time management skills

MS Office, in particular Excel required (and PowerPoint desirable)

Microstrategy experience desirable (BI tool)
