In a nutshell
This is a role for a relationship-building and influencing specialist with a proven commercial and strategic background. You are an abstract thinker, with a passion for understanding customer (the consumer) behaviour and what makes customers tick.
The rewards partnership director will be responsible for onboarding new rewards partners, growing existing rewards partnerships and overseeing our rewards communication strategy across the coalition, all to deliver more value to customers and align to the key outcome of Loyalty Everyone Loves. A candidate must have a proven track record of business development, sales and experience in delivering significant revenue budgets. This role will actively contribute to Nectar360s aspiration of delivering an additional £100M incremental margin to Sainsbury’s Group by 2027.
This role requires strategic development of long-term relationships across senior stakeholders (CMOs, marketing director’s, commercial directors) in multiple businesses and across a wide array of industries. You will be uniquely positioned to guide rewards strategy and business development efforts, whilst also influencing internal teams in both a marketing services agency and a FTSE 100 retailer
Grow our rewards opportunities for Nectar customers
- Identify and evaluate potential rewards partners that align with the company's goals and customer objectives.
- Build network of prospects and targets within potential new reward partners and run partnership workstreams end to end. Given our sales cycles are long – 6 – 18months + maintain tenacious yet considered approach strategies to relationship management within your network.
- Work with market research and insights to identify potential industries and assess their fit with the company's rewards strategy.
- Leverage your network to reach out to potential partners and initiate discussions to explore partnership opportunities.
- Negotiate partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate new partners into the rewards program seamlessly.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of onboarded partners to ensure they meet the company's standards and objectives.
Maintain strong relationships with existing partners and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Relationship Management:
- Build a strong and collaborative working relationship with senior level contacts (CMOs, marketing directors, loyalty directors), across our portfolio of rewards partners and prospective rewards partners.
- Use these strong relationships and your highly specialised knowledge of loyalty and CRM to influence and inspire commitment and investment from your clients into the Nectar programme.
- Ensure senior governance with clients is being executed correctly at the right levels and frequencies for maximum results
Strategic Planning & Loyalty market expertise:
- Lead and develop transformative data-driven thinking and strategy across multiple client businesses to deliver Nectar’s objectives and value back to our clients, and ultimately customers.
- Long term account planning focused on commercial growth, continuously evolving and growing your partnerships.
- Supporting on the wider programme strategy, working with the Nectar marketing team to develop comprehensive customer engagement strategy to grow points redemption.
- Be seen by clients and colleagues as a loyalty & CRM expert and thought leader, in several differing industries, to drive loyalty performance.
- Leverage a marketing budget to drive customer redemptions as well as a target of increasing redemption margin contribution to Sainsbury’s Group business.
What you need to know and show
- Extensive experience of the Loyalty and data driven marketing industry.
- Ability to build networks and relationships across multiple business with senior stakeholders and talk credibly about Nectar360 capabilities.
- Strategic thinking and proven commercial acumen to deliver on our commercial plan, experience driving tough commercial negotiations, with a track record of beneficial outcomes and the ability to pivot approach as needed to ensure commercial targets are met.
- Entrepreneurial spirit to bring new commercial models and propositions to power growth to the business and unlock significant value for our customers and the business.
- Extensive experience leading on complex cross functional projects, with multiple stakeholders, managing against a background of a constantly changing industry, and its regulation, and ensuring that we are nimble in our response to these changes; working to timelines determined by the fast pace of the Loyalty and data industries; and allowing for multi-layered considerations at each stage.
- Independence of thought to maximise opportunities, with the confidence to experiment and act on opportunities with only broad guidance.

- Drive the business to make decisions on commercial or contractual situations for your clients and third parties
Set the focus industries to target to grow our rewards portfolio. - Lead all commercial requirements and prioritisation decisions to work effectively with colleagues in analytics, product, Tech, legal, finance, and DPO to deliver the required programme of on-going business development.
