Why join us
It’s an exciting time here at Argos! We now combine an online ordering and home delivery model to rival the biggest competitors with handy collection points in Sainsbury’s stores, too.
We’ve opened a number of Argos Local Fulfilment Centres (LFCs) to offer a much better, quicker choice to our customers, who can choose home delivery or collection in a Sainsbury’s store. But we’re a long way from a dump-the-parcel-and-run outfit. We’re a fulfilment centre and not a distribution centre. Each product on our shelves has a customer’s name on it, and we never, ever forget that. The site is a hive of activity and energy with colleagues picking and packing ready for our vans to make sure that products get safely to their new owners.
You’ll never have a dull day at an Argos LFC! You’ll always be facing new challenges and feel the energy from the team around you. What’s more, as you’ll be part of a Sainsbury’s-owned multi-brand retailer, there are many ways you could develop your career across different parts of the business.
Who you are
You’re a leader who has bags of energy and tonnes of resilience, and you’ve managed a complex warehouse environment before. Your experience could be from any customer focused industry, such as General Merchandise, Logistics and Retail, but it’s important that you have a firm understanding of the transport element of a warehouse, specifically managing a large fleet.
You have an understanding of the challenges that arise here every day, and your agile mindset means you remain calm under pressure, lead your team through those tough moments, and make sure they maintain a level of excellence. As you’ll be overseeing this entire operation, you’ll know how to follow process but also be comfortable switching between multiple tasks and wearing many different hats. You’ll know when roll up your sleeves on the floor, and when to delegate and trust your team to deliver, so that you can step back and see the bigger picture.
What you'll do
You’ll be the point person for this Local Fulfilment Centre and lead a large team to follow our rigorous processes and to deliver the best customer service. Our metrics are customer satisfaction; so your targets will focus on the decisions you make to deliver that exemplary service. You’ll be communicating and collaborating between the business and your diverse and energetic team all day, every day. Ultimately, you’ll ensure products are delivered to our customers safely and efficiently, at the right time, in the right quantity & quality and at the right cost. You’ll have a short amount of time to brief our team of dedicated drivers each day, to make sure they know how to deliver the best service to our customers.
You’ll manage the ever-changing priorities and team workload to maximise productivity as you are driving a culture of change. You’ll coach and develop your team, leading by example and always on the lookout for continuous improvement opportunities. You’ll also need to be mindful of the need to comply with the relevant legislation and create a safe working environment by adhering to processes.
