We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work/life balance. That’s waiting for you right here. Supply Chain and Logistics are the engine room for getting thousands of products from farms and factories, through the business and to our millions of customers every day. We plan around events from barbecue weekends to Sunday roasts, and who wants oven-ready cauliflower cheese to those who prefer to make it from scratch. Insight and data are everything. But so is judgement — if there’s an issue or ambiguity anywhere, we’re the first to spot it. There’s a big transformation going on. That calls for people who champion change, bring others with them, collaborate and communicate. Because those people can go a very long way.

Why join us:
Joining Sainsbury's as a Regional Engineering Manager means being part of a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and efficiency of our fleet and Mechanical Handling Equipment operations.

With a focus on maximising fleet utilisation, investigating incidents, and implementing cost-effective engineering solutions, you will have the opportunity to lead impactful projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

As a valued member of our team, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, demonstrate resilience and positive mindset, and contribute to our commitment to excellence in engineering standards and operational performance.

What you'll do:
You will be responsible for overseeing fleet compliance, uptime, costs, audits, and engineering standards across multiple sites, both in-house and with third-party logistics partners. Your role will involve managing fleet and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) operations in alignment with Sainsbury's standards, ensuring safety and legal compliance while controlling costs within budgets.

By collaborating closely with Depot Leadership teams and Central teams, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that fleets are operating safely and efficiently, meeting compliance requirements, and contributing to the overall success of the logistics operations.

Who you are:
A highly experienced and knowledgeable professional in fleet management, Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE), and compliance, with a proven track record of working in logistics environments and driving engineering standards.

With a sharp commercial focus and the ability to make critical decisions in fast-paced, ever-changing environments, you excel in maximising fleet utilisation, ensuring compliance, and managing costs effectively.

Your expertise in project management, relationship management, and continuous improvement allows you to lead engineering projects, identify cost savings, and deliver innovative solutions that align with business objectives and industry best practises.
