We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. We’re the first to say we do HR differently here. For a start, we work as business partners and specialists. That’s whether we’re making sure that nearly 180,000 colleagues are paid on time, or that our strategy is helping us attract the right people, put them in the right place, and unlock their talent. This is a fast-moving business and our policies and rewards keep up too. That’s why we’re as flexible as we can be about where and when you work. We’re also flexible about your future. There’s always room to move up or across, if that’s what you want. We really value different perspectives so there’s no one opinion, no single path, and yours is important. What’s certain is that you’ll be joining one of the happiest, most engaged teams in the business.

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract

Why join us

Joining us as a Policy Manager in the Reward team offers an opportunity to shape and implement future-fit policies, collaborate with diverse teams, lead policy development initiatives, and contribute to a culture of inclusivity and compliance. With a focus on simplifying processes, staying abreast of industry trends, and fostering strong relationships across the organisation, this role provides a platform for professional growth, impactful decision-making, and meaningful contributions that shape the employee experience at Sainsbury's.

What you'll do

You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing people policies that are compliant with legislative requirements and aligned with the business and people strategy. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams across the organisation to create and maintain an organisation-wide policy strategy, as well as identifying and addressing potential policy risks and issues to ensure the delivery of business objectives. You’ll act as an expert on policy matters, working closely with stakeholders to simplify policies and procedures, while also proactively monitoring external policy trends and making recommendations to respond effectively. Additionally, you will play a key role in maintaining the policy framework, providing insights and recommendations to stakeholders, and ensuring that policies support a positive employee experience and align with business goals.

Who you are

You are a seasoned HR professional with a comprehensive understanding of people policies, employment law, and ER, coupled with exceptional communication and analytical skills. Your ability to navigate complex subject matters, make sound judgments, and influence stakeholders up to Director level enables you to develop and implement strategic policies that align with business objectives and foster a positive colleague experience. With a proactive and adaptable approach, you excel in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various teams and stakeholders to drive policy development and ensure legal compliance, while enhancing organisational effectiveness and colleague engagement.
