What you'll do
As the Safety Direct and Licencing Manager at Sainsbury's, you will lead and manage a team responsible for ensuring accurate and timely information is available in safety systems regarding accidents, near misses, and investigations, while also overseeing the processing and tracking of licences to ensure legal compliance. You will work closely with various departments, such as Crime and Security and Facilities Management, to coordinate efforts and maintain accurate data. Your role will involve coaching and supporting the team in maintaining high standards of accident reporting, investigations, and compliance with regulations such as Reporting Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) and Licencing Act 2003. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in streamlining processes, ensuring customer service excellence, and providing safety alerts to the leadership team in case of significant incidents, all while contributing to short and medium-term strategies for improving reporting and safety alerts within the organisation.
Who you are
As the Safety Direct and Licencing Manager for Sainsbury's, you are a dedicated and experienced professional with a strong background in reporting and project management. Experience in safety, licencing, and compliance is desirable. Your strong leadership skills, coupled with your ability to coach and support a team in challenging situations, enable you to ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety incidents and licencing compliance across the business. With your excellent communication and customer service skills, you effectively liaise with internal stakeholders and external authorities to maintain legal compliance and optimise safety processes. Your attention to detail, empathy, and project management capabilities allow you to drive continuous improvement in reporting systems and safety alerts while upholding high standards of operational excellence and team performance.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience managing a team, including coaching, workload prioritisation, and ensuring compliance with legal and internal standards.
- Proven experience in coordinating and delivering projects, including setting objectives, managing timelines, and improving reporting and system data quality
- Competence in using Microsoft packages with the ability to manage administrative routines within databases.
- Evidence of delivering customer service excellence, including resolving queries within service level agreements and coaching others on communication and service standards.
