What you'll do

As a Data Analyst within the Argos Commercial Analytics team, you will be at the forefront of leveraging data to drive strategic commercial decisions and enhance profitability. Your role will involve analysing pricing strategies, evaluating product trends, and developing data-driven insights that inform business decisions and contribute to the overall success of the organisation. Through your analytical mindset, technical proficiency in SQL and either R or Python, and strategic pricing analysis skills, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, create actionable insights, and drive measurable business transformation through effective communication and stakeholder engagement. Your focus on efficiency, automation, and continuous learning will play a crucial role in shaping the future of commercial strategies at Sainsbury's.

Who you are

As a Data Analyst for Argos Commercial team, you must have advanced SQL and be able to write SQL queries from scratch to extract and aggregate data. You are a highly analytical and strategic thinker with a passion for leveraging data to drive commercial success. 

With a keen eye for detail and a talent for uncovering insights from complex data sets, you excel in developing data-driven pricing strategies, conducting competitor analysis, and designing KPI frameworks to enhance profitability and business impact. Your technical proficiency in SQL and statistical tools like R or Python, coupled with your strong communication skills, allows you to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, present compelling data stories, and drive measurable business transformation through actionable insights and strategic analysis.

Essential Criteria:

  • Advanced SQL – must be able to write SQL queries from scratch to extract and aggregate 
  • Relevant technical experience in Snowflake. 
  • Understanding and examples of implementing analytical skills and statistical technique like of pricing elasticity, regression analysis, forecasting, and/or predictive modelling
  • Strong storytelling and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Past commercial analytics experience / Pricing Analyst experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience of Python, BI tools (e.g. Tableau or Business Objects) and AWS
  • Past experience on Competitor & Market Analysis/Promotional Impact Evaluation
  • Experience working with third-party tools related to retrieving competitor data.
