We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. For a FTSE business, we move incredibly fast. When we’re not handling projects, we’re helping all corners of the wider group with what they’re trying to achieve. And around here, you can see the results of your work as soon as you walk into a store, which gives you a real sense of purpose and responsibility. Better still, the team around you will listen to your ideas and opinions, and you’ll have every chance to try something new. The sheer scale and complexity of our set-up means there’s always something else around the corner, and we’ll help and support you every step of the way. We’re trusted to get on with it. So get ready to make things happen here.

About the team

Join our dynamic Finance Operations & Change division, where we work collaboratively to drive strategic transformation and support sustainable business growth. Based out of our London or Manchester Store Support Centres – with flexible home working options – you’ll be part of a forward-thinking team at the heart of our business.

We pride ourselves on connecting Finance and Technology, enabling improved customer experiences and empowering our organisation to compete more effectively. You’ll be joining a close-knit group that values collaboration, innovation, and a passion for delivering results together.

More about the role

As a Portfolio Lead, you’ll partner closely with the Head of Finance Transformation and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our Finance Transformation agenda over the next three years and beyond.

Day-to-day, you’ll build and maintain robust frameworks and tools for managing management information and reporting, ensuring we have ‘one version of the truth’ across the portfolio of transformation projects impacting Finance. You’ll be at the centre of capturing key dependencies, resource requirements, and driving visibility on progress against our transformation goals.

You’ll engage regularly with Finance and Technology teams, facilitating knowledge sharing and improving collaboration across the wider transformation community. Expect to lead high-quality engagement with transformation leaders, support quarterly programme resets, and provide concise updates for Finance leadership. Your work will directly enable better, faster decision-making and prioritisation, while you champion a mindset of continuous improvement and collaborative working.

More about the role

You are a proactive problem-solver, comfortable working independently and driving change across diverse stakeholder groups. Your experience in delivering major change programmes is complemented by your ability to manage and analyse data, develop impactful dashboards, and tailor communications for varied audiences. You thrive in environments where continuous learning is valued and are eager to share your knowledge, championing collaborative and agile ways of working.

Demonstrating our valued behaviours, you take ownership of your outcomes, seek ways to make things better, and build relationships based on honesty and integrity. You’re curious about how the wider business operates and always considers the customer perspective in your approach. You’re committed to fostering an environment where delivery is achieved at pace, and you consistently drive for improvement in everything you do.
