We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. Here, everything in our Sainsbury’s stores starts out in Sainsbury’s Commercial. Whether it’s the product, proposition, packaging or price, or the fact that something tastes great, our team is responsible for all food, non- food and Clothing items available in Sainsbury’s stores, digitally and on demand. You’ll discover it’s incredibly fast-paced. People here are in it together and not afraid to take risks. They’re enthusiastic too, and their amazing leadership team is right behind them. The knowledge and experience you gain here could set you up for career moves anywhere else in the business. So, if you’re passionate about your products and just as hungry to learn, you’ll fit in perfectly.

We’re growing our Clothing team and have two exciting Merchandiser opportunities - one within Essentials and one within Knitwear & Outerwear. In these roles, you’ll be right at the centre of how we plan, build and deliver ranges that truly connect with our customers. You’ll shape decisions, improve stock flow and influence the commercial direction of your category, working closely with buyers, suppliers and cross‑functional partners to drive performance. If you bring a merchandising background ideally within clothing and want to play a key role in how our ranges come to life across all channels, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a team that values product, pace and customer insight.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll take ownership of delivering a customer‑led merchandising strategy for your category, ensuring we build balanced and commercial ranges across Essentials or Knitwear/Outerwear. You’ll use data, trends and customer insight to inform decisions, manage budgets and understand what truly drives performance. You’ll work closely with Buying, Design, Supply Chain, Retail and suppliers to keep stock flowing, optimise availability, and deliver to key milestones in the critical path. You’ll review performance regularly, identifying risks and opportunities that help shape trade conversations, planning cycles and future ranges. From forecasting and trading to supporting great product decisions, you’ll be at the heart of bringing standout clothing ranges to our customers.

Who You Are

You’re someone with a passion for product and a natural curiosity about what makes customers buy. You bring experience in merchandising, ideally within clothing and you’re confident working with data to guide your thinking. You enjoy collaborating with buyers, suppliers and wider teams, using your communication skills to bring clarity and drive aligned decisions. You’re organised, proactive and thrive in a fast‑moving retail environment where you can influence results and see your work come to life in‑store. Above all, you care about delivering great customer experiences and want to develop your career in a team that values creativity, pace and teamwork.

  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data
  • Experience delivering results to target as an individual and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast‑moving retail environment
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Highly organised with strong planning and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Customer‑focused with a positive, collaborative approach
