Senior Product Manager – Core Commercial - Supplier Experience
We’re a multi-channel, multi-brand business serving millions of customers a day, with the UK’s largest loyalty scheme and an evolving set of commercial platforms. All this equals over 1.2 billion transactions each year, presenting a volume, depth, and complexity of data that few can match.
We don’t think we’re exaggerating when we say we have the most exciting data set in the country. And from the insights gained, we build scalable, high-performance products using cutting-edge technology that give our customers an amazing shopping experience – like our award-winning Smartshop app. In an inclusive, agile environment, you’ll have the space to be curious, to experiment, and to solve real-world challenges. And you’ll get to see your creations in the hands of hundreds of colleagues or millions of customers across the UK.
As a Senior Product Manager in Commercial, you will work closely with a variety of teams across commercial, digital, supply chain, logistics and retail to advance strategic cost initiatives by building products that enhance our customer experience and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our commercial capabilities.
Our commercial platforms enable product setup, supplier partnerships, space and range optimisation, pricing and promotions, and display. They enable Sainsbury’s to serve millions of our customers, and we aim to offer an increasingly optimised customer experience. You’ll be shaping our future technology to help create the right proposition for Sainsbury’s customers wherever and however they might choose to shop with us. You’ll transform our ways of working and how we make decisions. You’ll enable connected planning and operational efficiency. You’ll bring together data integration, perceptive analytics, and flexibility to help Sainsbury’s achieve its full potential.
What you’ll do:
Joining Sainsbury's as a Senior Product Manager for Supplier Experience offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our strategy and drive value from supplier relationships. As part of our Commercial Technology product team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end journey of Supplier management: everything from the technology that helps us onboard new suppliers quickly, to risk management and auditing tools, to the internal use of supplier data - and more! You will play a key role in integrating with and delivering new technology while simplifying supplier experiences to unlock stronger supplier relationships, higher quality data and operational efficiency.
Today, we are constrained by the technology we use, and our Commercial landscape is comprised of legacy systems. Within this role you will have the unique opportunity to work on one of the largest multi-year transformation initiatives in Sainsbury’s history, as we are currently undergoing an ambitious programme of work to revolutionise our Core Commercial Systems with SAP, a world-leading ERP software provider. The project will benefit customers, suppliers, colleagues and shareholders, simplifying and integrating Sainsbury’s systems and tools into one cohesive platform and creating a single ecosystem for Sainsbury’s colleagues and suppliers to communicate. This will reduce complexity and improve efficiency for suppliers, helping drive returns.
In this role, you will provide Product leadership within the Supplier workstream and be the decision maker for Supplier technology throughout the transformation journey, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to deliver complex system capabilities that meet both business, supplier, and colleague needs. A large part of this role will revolve around building, shaping and executing an end-to-end Product Strategy for Supplier Experiences across the entire Sainsburys landscape – taking into account our new SAP Supplier technology. You will have complete ownership on defining and conducting discovery on the Supplier strategy – setting a 5+ year vision and roadmap for how we will get there and gaining buy-in from senior leadership and stakeholders on your vision.
