We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. Here, everything in our stores starts out in Food Commercial. Whether it’s the product, proposition, packaging or price, or the fact that something tastes great, our team is responsible for all food items available in store, digitally and on demand. You’ll discover it’s incredibly fast-paced. People here are in it together and not afraid to take risks. They’re enthusiastic too, and their amazing leadership team is right behind them. The knowledge and experience you gain here could set you up for career moves, anywhere else in the business. So, if you’re passionate about food and just as hungry to learn, you’ll fit in perfectly.

Central Merchandiser

We’re expanding our Clothing Operations and looking for a Clothing Central Merchandiser who’s excited to influence how we plan, buy and move product across our full clothing offer. You’ll be right at the centre of our operation, shaping decisions, improving stock flow and helping us deliver ranges that truly resonate with customers.

In this role, you’ll bring insight, pace and commercial thinking to a growing part of the business. You’ll work with brilliant teams across merchandising, supply chain and tech, using data to unlock opportunities and make smart, confident trading decisions. If you thrive in a fast‑moving environment, love solving challenges and want the chance to make a visible impact across the entire Clothing business, this is a role where you can really shine.

What you'll do

You’ll support teams across Clothing to deliver productive ranges, strong availability and the right stock levels. You’ll guide planning frameworks, refine open‑to‑buy processes and help the business make confident trading decisions. You’ll also support and enhance our Merchandise Financial Planning model in Anaplan, keeping it running smoothly, improving functionality and helping colleagues get the best out of it. You’ll build strong relationships across commercial, supply chain and tech, spotting opportunities to simplify, improve and move faster.

Who you are

You’re a natural problem solver who enjoys working with numbers, systems and people. You can see both the detail and the bigger picture, and you feel confident shaping conversations and influencing decisions. You’re curious, commercially minded and comfortable introducing new ways of working. You enjoy collaborating with different teams and building relationships that help drive change.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong clothing merchandising knowledge.
  • Hands‑on experience with Anaplan (or similar planning/MFP tools) and Merchandise Financial Planning.
  • High commercial acumen with a track record of sound, data‑led decisions.
  • Ability to interpret complex data from multiple sources and turn it into clear actions.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with decisions that deliver great outcomes.

You’ll split your time between home and Ansty SSC (Coventry), coming into the office when it matters most for collaboration and business needs.
