What you'll do
As an Associate Analyst within Commercial Analytics at Sainsbury’s, you will support the delivery of high quality analytical work that informs commercial decision making across Food, General Merchandise and Clothing. You will work closely with colleagues in Engineering and Data Science to access and refine data, design analytical solutions such as ETL processes, statistical analyses and dashboards, and explore new data sources to unlock fresh insight. With a strong focus on accuracy and clarity, you will translate complex analytical findings into simple, engaging explanations that help stakeholders understand the story behind the numbers. You will play an active role in the wider analytics community, contributing ideas, sharing learnings, and helping to drive continuous improvement across the team.
Who you are
As an Associate Analyst, you are naturally curious, highly motivated, and eager to grow your technical and commercial skills. You have a strong numerate background and enjoy solving problems, spotting patterns, and breaking complexity into clear, logical steps. You communicate confidently and can explain data and analysis in a way that is easy for others to understand. You value collaboration and enjoy working with colleagues from across the business. You take pride in the accuracy and quality of your work, and you are proactive in seeking opportunities to learn, develop and contribute to team success.
Essential Criteria
- Highly numerate background (degree or analytical work experience).
- SQL skills essential; experience with Python, Snowflake, R, GitHub, and Jira is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to break down problems logically and apply sound analytical thinking.
- High attention to detail and consistent output quality.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proactive approach to development and team contribution.
