What you'll do
Here you will lead the conduct of feasibility and modelling studies to continually review and enhance our Food, GM, and Argos networks, identifying opportunities for future development. Collaborating with stakeholders at all levels, you will define the underpinning data analysis for our Network Strategy Business Cases over a 5-15-year time horizon, ensuring alignment with business needs. 

Your role will involve creating infrastructure business cases and implementation plans, optimising network strategy across medium- and long-term horizons, and engaging with automation and tech partners to design appropriate solutions. You will drive clarity and simplicity in decision-making processes, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, and collaborate closely with finance to support the delivery of business cases, all while exhibiting a deep passion for continuous learning and sharing knowledge.

Who you are
You are a strategic and innovative leader with a deep understanding of logistics industry automation and digitisation developments, coupled with excellent presentation skills and the ability to distil complex information into clear and insightful messaging. With a proven track record in managing external relationships, utilising data and insights to drive decisions, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration, you excel in driving transformational change and delivering value to both internal stakeholders and customers. Your logical and structured approach to leadership, combined with your strong stakeholder management and communication skills, enable you to influence at all levels and lead cross-functional teams towards achieving strategic objectives.

 

Essentials of the role

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of Logistics & Fulfilment network, operations and process flows.
  • Understanding of Logistics industry automation & digitisation developments & where it is relevant for Sainsbury’s & Argos operations. 
  • Ability to distil complex messages into simple, clear and insightful messaging and management information. 
  • Demonstrable experience in advanced stakeholder management, communication, and conflict management skills.
  • Customer focused with evidence of driving improvement for the end customer experience.
  • Significantly experienced at managing external third-party relationships with a full understanding of change contractual and commercial planning, and management. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence up to and including c-suite members, forming strong working relationships.
  • Previous experience in a change delivery role (retail, supply chain & logistics).
  • A strength in using data, insight and external innovation to drive complex decisions/projects.
