We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work/life balance. That’s waiting for you right here. Supply Chain and Logistics is the engine room that gets thousands of products from farms and factories, through the business and to millions of customers every day. We plan around everything from barbecue weekends to Sunday roasts, supporting those who want oven-ready cauliflower cheese and those who prefer to make it from scratch. Insight and data are everything. But so is judgement — when there’s an issue or ambiguity anywhere, we’re often the first to spot it. There’s a big transformation underway. It calls for people who champion change, bring others with them, and collaborate and communicate. Because those people can go a very long way here.

About the Team

You will be joining our Logistics Systems team, working at the heart of Sainsbury’s food logistics transformation. The team supports the development and deployment of modern warehouse management solutions that keep our supply chain running smoothly, efficiently, and with the customer at the centre of every decision.

More About the Role

As the Logistics Systems Development Manager – Food, you will lead a multi‑year programme to replace Sainsbury’s Food WMS across the network. You will represent logistics operations throughout requirements gathering, testing, and implementation activities, ensuring system developments are fit for purpose and aligned to business needs.

You will collaborate closely with operational teams and technology partners to drive standardisation, process improvement, and successful delivery of system enhancements. Your work will play a critical role in shaping the future operation of our food logistics network.

More About You

You will bring strong experience delivering technical change within complex logistics environments, with the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects. You understand warehouse management systems and the impact of change on daily operations, acting as a trusted partner across the business.

You are a problem‑solver with a continuous improvement mindset, able to simplify complexity and keep teams focused on the right outcomes. You build strong stakeholder relationships and lead confidently, fostering collaboration across logistics and technology teams.

Essential Criteria

• Ability to lead and deliver technical change within logistics environments

• Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS)

• Proven ability to manage stakeholders across operational and technology teams

• Strong understanding of agile or product‑led delivery approaches

• Ability to coordinate and oversee multiple concurrent system development projects

You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 20% of salary, depending on how we perform.
