What you'll do 


As a Senior Copywriter, you will play a crucial role in crafting engaging, compelling, and on-brand copy for a diverse portfolio of brands including Sainsbury's, Argos, Habitat, Tu, and Nectar. Your main mission will be to shape the creative vision and brand tone of voice, ensuring that our brands connect with customers on an emotional level. As the engine room for creative copy ideas, you will lead the development and delivery of creative copy work, from concept through to production. Collaborating intensively with clients and cross-functional teams, you will deeply understand creative objectives, develop winning ideas, and execute industry-leading creative work that drives brand credibility and engagement. Your role will also involve providing creative guidance and leadership, mentoring and managing more junior team members, and staying updated on industry trends and emerging creative technologies. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining consistency and alignment across all brands' tone of voice, style, and messaging, while delivering quality work and meeting deadlines. Your ability to build strong relationships, effectively communicate complex ideas, and effectively influence stakeholders will be key to your success in this role.

Your extensive experience in delivering high-quality work, both as a mentor and as a practitioner, allows you to provide creative guidance and leadership to project teams, inspiring them to achieve excellence in their creative output. Collaborating closely with clients, external agency partners, and cross-functional teams, you bring ideas to life and drive the bigger creative ambitions of the brands within Sainsbury's portfolio. With your curiosity, adaptability, and excellent communication skills, you excel in delivering innovative and impactful copy across multiple channels while maintaining brand consistency and exceeding client expectations. 

Essential criteria

Experience as a Senior Copywriter, creating engaging, on‑brand copy across multiple channels (digital, social, print, retail, CRM). 

Experience shaping and maintaining brand tone of voice across a portfolio of brands.

Experience developing ideas and lead copy from concept through to production. 

Demonstrated experience in delivering high‑quality creative work that strengthens brand credibility and customer engagement. 

Experience mentoring, guiding, and developing more junior creatives, providing constructive creative leadership. 

Experience working closely with clients, agency partners, and cross‑functional teams to bring ideas to life.
