More about the role 

As the Retail Governance Executive, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, coordinating, assessing, and communicating all retail-impacting activities. Acting as the central point for gathering information and ensuring readiness, you’ll enable our retail teams to consistently deliver key initiatives and projects across all Argos stores. Your day-to-day will involve working closely with multiple stakeholders, challenging clarity where needed, and driving operational effectiveness. 

You will also take ownership of the Retail Governance forums, overseeing diary management, agendas, papers, minutes, and tracking actions to maintain a smooth governance rhythm. This is a fantastic opportunity to directly influence retail success by ensuring all activities are well executed and our teams are fully prepared for what’s ahead.

To excel in this role, you’ll need operational knowledge of retail stores and a demonstrable ability to organise and validate information effectively. You’ll be proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in taking ownership of your work. Your approach will be thorough, ensuring clarity in communication and readiness across all projects and activities. 

You’ll also be someone who values teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Demonstrating initiative and accountability, you’ll embody our commitment to operational excellence and support the wider team in achieving shared goals. 

 

Essential criteria 

  • Demonstrable ability to coordinate end-to-end governance processes, including organising calendars, agendas, pre reads and tracking actions, evidenced by having previously managed structured forums or business governance cycles. 

  • Proven capability in capturing, validating and consolidating operational information to produce clear summaries of activities, risks, pinch points and capacity impacts for retail or operational environments. 

  • Demonstrable skill in engaging cross-functional stakeholders to obtain clarity, using structured questioning to understand scope, assumptions and implications, with evidence of preventing or resolving overlaps or conflicts in workstreams. 

  • Proven ability to maintain accurate, auditable documentation, including logs, trackers, minutes and decision records, ensuring transparency and traceability in operational processes. 

  • Desirable - demonstrate operational knowledge of retail store environments, supported by experience applying this knowledge to improve processes, simplify activities or enhance readiness of retail teams.
