As an Analyst in Sainsbury’s Commercial Analytics team, you’ll use data and advanced analytical techniques to shape our Commercial strategy across all categories and channels. Your work delivers real impact, influencing the products we range, the promotions we run and the prices experienced by millions of customers across the UK.
This role sits within our Pricing & Promotions team, where you’ll help advance our pricing capabilities. You’ll contribute to building and improving the analytics, algorithms and tools that underpin pricing decisions, optimise promotional performance and enable us to respond effectively to market movements.
Working closely with Commercial Trading, Value Strategy, Engineering and Data Science, you’ll deliver end-to-end analytical solutions that support better, more strategic decision-making. You’ll also develop innovative approaches to measurement and modelling, while exploring new data sources to strengthen our pricing strategy.
You’ll operate in a fast-paced environment, ensuring your work is accurate, commercially relevant and aligned to clear business objectives. Through clear and compelling storytelling, you’ll translate complex data into actionable insights that influence decisions across the organisation.

What you’ll do
- Deliver high-quality analysis that shapes our pricing and value strategy
- Quantify the impact of key initiatives through robust measurement frameworks and post-implementation reviews
- Build scalable analytical and automation solutions to accelerate the journey from data to insight
- Partner with Commercial stakeholders to ensure work is aligned to strategy and delivers clear business value
- Collaborate with Data Science and Engineering to influence roadmaps, improve data quality and deliver end-to-end solutions
- Stay commercially curious, bringing insight on market trends in pricing and promotions into your work
Essential Criteria
- Strong numerate background (degree or equivalent experience).
- Advanced SQL skills and working knowledge of Python; experience with ML modelling, Snowflake, GitHub, and Jira is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to deliver robust, high‑impact analysis that drives business outcomes.
- Skilled at simplifying complexity and structuring ambiguous problems.
- Strong communication and storytelling ability.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities at speed.
- Growth mindset and proactive approach to development.
