Why join us

Joining the Sainsbury's team as the Head of Strategic Partnerships for POS Finance offers a unique opportunity to drive transformation and growth within the Financial Services division, playing a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the business. With a focus on developing and scaling key partnerships, influencing stakeholders, and leading a high-performing team, you will have the chance to make a significant impact on the credit business, driving it towards profitability and operational excellence. This role provides a platform for forward-thinking leaders to showcase their strategic acumen, financial management skills, and ability to navigate complex environments, all while contributing to the success of one of the UK's leading retail organisations.

What you'll do

You'll be accountable for leading the transformation of credit from a cost to a profit driver, particularly focusing on the Argos Pay product in partnership with New Day and Argos. Your role will involve building and nurturing strong relationships with credit providers in the Argos ecosystem, such as Klarna and Paypal, to drive results through effective management and close business collaboration. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that elevate the credit business to best-in-class levels of penetration and P & L contribution, influencing stakeholders both internally and externally to achieve these objectives. Additionally, you will have ownership of the P & L for the Credit product, driving financial outcomes and storytelling with data to present findings and insights to key stakeholders.

Who you are

You're a visionary leader with a proven track record of driving transformation and delivering strategic outcomes in the field of POS finance, specifically within the retail environment. Your exceptional leadership skills, coupled with your ability to build and scale strategic partnerships, enable you to drive profitable growth and positively influence stakeholders both internally and externally. With a strong understanding of financial services and retail market dynamics, you excel in making data-driven decisions, managing P & Ls, and fostering a high-performing culture that empowers colleagues to achieve their full potential

Essential Skills

  • Evidence of building and maintaining external strategic partnerships that deliver commercial growth, with the ability to operate with autonomy and accountability.

  • Proven commercial ownership experience, including responsibility for, or significant influence over, P&L, profitability and revenue growth within a retail or customer-led environment.

  • Experience working with retail credit products, customer finance, POS finance and/or regulated financial services.

  • Strong data-led decision making, with the ability to translate insight into clear actions, recommendations, and commercial outcomes.

  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders, leading teams and delivering through cross-functional collaboration.

We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer so you’ll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there’s always the chance to try something new — whether that’s as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we’ll also offer you an amazing range of benefits.
