As a Delivery Driver you’ll be at the heart of the community, offering a friendly, helpful service to peoples’ doors so they keep coming back to shop with us again and again. We’ll expect you to make every delivery a great experience, always doing the right thing for our customers, keeping them aware of any delays or changes to their orders – all in all, its a busy, hands-on role where you’ll make things happen at pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do you have to be to apply for a delivery driver job at Sainsbury’s?

We require our drivers to have twelve months driving experience which means only those ages 18 and over can apply. 

Do I need previous retail-specific experience to be a delivery driver at Sainsbury’s?

You do not need to have had previous experience in retail. We look for certain qualities in our drivers, so if you demonstrate fantastic communication skills and have a friendly, helpful attitude, your application will be considered. You’ll receive on-the-job training to help you with the rest. 

And of course, you need to have at least one year’s worth of experience driving with a valid UK/EU manual driving licence.

How many points can I have on my licence to be a delivery driver at Sainsbury's?

You’ll need to have no more than 6 points on your driving licence. 

Will I have guaranteed hours?

Yes, all of our drivers have guaranteed hours so that you can plan ahead
