This role is based out of our Holborn Store Support Centre & Home, you will be required to be in Holborn 1-2 days per week on average.
In this role you will be responsible for providing finance support to the Commercial Trading teams within the Fresh Food Business unit. This is a business partnering role that will support these categories in shaping and delivering the 3-year ‘Next Level Sainsbury’s’ strategy. These trading categories are highly propositional and it’s an exciting time to join the team to help achieve their strategic vision. Reporting into the Finance Manager for these categories, you’ll provide insight, analysis and directly partner key stakeholders to drive business performance.
In a highly competitive industry that never stands still, there is always a lot going on and Finance has a key role to play in challenging ways of working and driving transformation. Our main focus is on forecasting and maximising sales, profit, return on investment and cash flow.
More about the role
- Run and interpret management reporting to provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders
- Business partnering the Commercial Trading teams, supporting on any finance led deliverables such as Forecasting, Latest view reviews and Budgeting, ensuring that the commercial stakeholders are providing robust submissions and that you are able to challenge, understand & articulate accordingly.
- Looking at trends and being able to identify any risks and opportunities and to flag these to business partners for onward action.
- Supporting on Propositional work such as owning, maintaining, and reviewing Net contribution (End-to-End) P&L models that aid the Commercial teams to make sound business decisions.
- The role has a strong stakeholder management element, where you will support the buyers and other relevant stakeholders within your category. This role works with both Finance and Non-Finance, so you’ll need the ability to be able to engage and communicate with different sets of stakeholders.
- Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis (both backward and forward looking) for the business area as required to support decision making & drive improved performance
- Supporting & challenging on any Investment decisions around Business cases and post-investment appraisals, helping to carve out valuable insights whilst also making sure we protect the business through robust and accurate financial assumptions.
- Finding ways to simplify processes and improve on these so that they are best in class.
- Where applicable, deputising for the Finance Manager in your category
More about you
- Part Qualified / Qualified accountant –CIMA/ACCA/ACA
- Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, both verbally and written
- Self-motivated and able to manage own time
- Strong commercial acumen, with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance
- Ability to prioritise and respond accurately under pressure
- Ability to articulate finance for non-finance
- Good networking and partnering skills, being able to work collaboratively and build trusted relationships
