As an Analyst you will be responsible for providing honest and robust analysis and insight to support, develop and understand an area of our business. Your role will see you source, process and deliver accurate data and analysis from across the retail operation and customer base through the use and development of bespoke analytical tools. We are a centralised team and we work in agile so a really exciting aspect of this role is that you can expect to work on challenges ranging from market insights to operational efficiency in our stores as part of a virtual and multidisciplinary team.

What I need to do

You will:
  • Assist the business with their questions / challenges by building custom analysis and insight
  • Support Senior Analysts to provide statistical analysis and predictive modelling across a range of retail business areas
  • Extract data and conduct analysis using tools such as SAS, R and / or Python
  • Work on multiple projects relating to Analytics, working both independently and cross functionally with colleagues in a virtual team.
  • Show a genuine interest in new technologies and tools for analytical purposes, trying out new tools and approaches through hackathons, data drives and POCs

  • Deliver accurate and timely data and analysis that is easy to interpret and understand
  • Propose and recommend the approach that should be taken to fulfil data analysis 
  • Become the go-to knowledge bank for the way to access and present data for analysis
  • A high level of team contribution – looking for opportunities to provide input and support across the team
What I need to know
  • High calibre graduates (2.1 or above) in mathematics, statistics, operational research or quality computing degree – BSc or MSc level. A-level Mathematics is essential.
  • Good analytical skills with a proven track record of relating data and analytics to real—world business
  • Working knowledge of applying analytical tools, such as SAS, R and / or Python to data to solve business problems (SAS, R, Python etc.)
  • How to quickly assimilate information and extract key themes, understand number problems and make educated guesses where appropriate 
What I need to show

Over and above what you need to know, you will need to show:
  • Logical approach to problem solving with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to apply advanced analytics and statistics to business problems
  • Proven experience of working with large volumes of data, applying tools such as SAS, R, Python and / or SQL
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms to a non-technical audience
  • Confident in questioning a proposed strategy or approach to analysis and in offering ideas and solutions
  • Proactive attitude that embraces change in a fast moving environment – a desire and ability to develop and progress
  • Knowledge of, or an interest in retail
