In this Product Manager role, you will be at the forefront of our payments technology with the opportunity to make a huge impact. You will work with an in-house team of brilliant engineers developing our payments technology to be best in class. Payments technology plays a critical role In helping shape our strategic vision, and you will have the opportunity to make meaningful change that underpins our payments offering. You will be part of a team of three Product People owning the full payments architecture for one of the largest retailers In the UK.

What I need to do

  • You will be responsible for our payments Infrastructure, delivering enhancements that underpin our payment journeys across all Sainsbury's brands
  • You will support the wider payments team in ensuring payments technology meets the required standards of security (PCI compliance, scheme regulatory requirements)
  • You will work with our partners, to deliver Sainsbury's strategic vision 
  • You’ll own and maintain a realistic 90-day roadmap, as well as a prioritised, estimated FY backlog and regularly communicating progress, proactively managing risks/issues to remove blockers
  • You will champion the needs of our customers and colleagues, using insight from multiple data sources to drive value-led prioritisation
  • You will work closely with in-house engineering teams and stakeholders from across the business to support end-to-end delivery of the roadmap
  • Keep up with relevant industry trends to help shape your thinking

What I need to show

  • You are bold, curious, resilient and empathetic and able to connect with stakeholders and the team in an authentic way. What’s more, you’ll be comfortable with making decisions, challenging assumptions and taking risks.
  • You thrive on translating business goals, technology strategies and market knowledge into a product roadmap that prioritises delivery of value and enables future business agility
  • You really get the customer and can translate requirements into clear user stories and sprint goals for the engineering teams
  • You’re technically curious, having worked directly with engineers, architects and third parties building real software. You ask the right questions so that you can help others understand your product
  • You’re courageous and understand that failing and learning isn’t really failing at all. You’ll encourage the team to experiment and try new and exciting solutions
  • A people person. You’ll build great relationships. We need people who want to help us build a brilliant team culture and make Sainsbury’s a great place to work.

  • Knowledge and understanding of a retail business and the technology landscape, and how to maximise the value that products can and will add
  • Understanding of Agile delivery and modern engineering team practices
  • Knowledge of technical product development principles and methodologies
