As part of the wider Sainsbury’s Group, being one of the UK’s most trusted brands, it brings our colleagues a wealth of opportunities to fulfil their potential. Here, you can be part of something bigger and help to create a new approach that puts the customer at the heart of everything we do.

Sainsburys Bank - Senior Credit Risk Analyst

Why join us

Joining Sainsbury's Bank as a Senior Credit Risk Analyst offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-growing team and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders. Whether you are an experienced credit risk professional seeking a new challenge, a budding analyst looking for a step-up, or have a passion for data and analytics within the financial services industry, we want to hear from you. In this role, you'll be part of the Credit Risk Provisions team, utilising data and insights to forecast bad debt and explain variances between actual bad debt and existing forecasts. With exposure to various areas of the bank and senior management, this role provides a platform for professional growth and development. Join our team and be part of a dynamic organisation that values innovation, collaboration, and delivering outstanding results for our customers.

What you'll do

As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst at Sainsbury’s Bank, you will play a vital role in the Provisions team, using data and analytics to report on the bad debt charge and feed into decisions on future lending.  Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining MI to track Book performance and explain the bad debt charge (variance to expectations), taking ownership for forecasting bad debt for your portfolio, forming relationships with business areas to understand potential risk impacts, helping coach junior colleagues. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders from various areas of the bank and gain exposure to senior management, contributing to the growth and success of the organisation. This opportunity offers you the chance to join a dynamic team and deepen your expertise in retail credit risk while working in a customer-focused and collaborative environment.

Who you are

As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst at Sainsbury's Bank, you are a passionate and talented individual with a strong interest in data and analytics. Whether you are an experienced credit risk professional, an aspiring analyst, or someone with an academic background wanting to venture into financial services, this role offers an exciting opportunity to join our Credit Risk team. You will need to be highly numerate, have good attention to detail, thrive in fast paced environments and be proficient in computer-based software statistical packages (e.g. SAS, SQL, Python, or R).  Provisions or Credit Risk experience is preferred.

We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer, so you’ll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there’s always the chance to try something new whether that’s as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we’ll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them:

Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to get 10% off at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat after 4 weeks. This increases to 15% off at Sainsbury’s every Friday and Saturday and 15% off at Argos every pay day. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 20% of salary, depending on how we perform.

Your wellbeing is important to us too. You'll receive an annual holiday allowance and you can buy additional holiday. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, pay advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an employee assistance programme.

Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave.

Please see www.sainsburys.jobs for a range of our benefits (note, length of service and eligibility criteria may apply).
