Senior Engineer – FinOps, AWS

 

Your Mission at Sainsbury’s Tech and in FinOps, Cloud 

As a Senior Engineer for FinOps, you will join the team that helps the company evolving it FinOps Practice, with the mission of helping Sainsburys being the most cost-effective retailer in the UK. The team is part of the Cloud Org, which has the mission to enable product engineering teams to deliver value faster, more safely and at reduced cost by providing reusable, resilient, scalable, and secure environments to run their applications on.

What we look for in a Senior FinOps Engineer

We are looking for an AWS Senior Engineer with proven experience in FinOps, ideally within a large retail enterprise.  You thrive in a fast-paced, Agile environment and are dedicated to continuous improvement, driving the adoption of best practises and staying up to date with emerging technologies. Your are a clear communicator and your drive, curiosity, and customer-centric mindset enable you to mentor and support your colleagues, contributing to the success of our engineering community and the delivery of high-quality products.
You will have proven experience in FinOps and Cloud Cost Management tooling and methodologies, with strong AWS and programming skills. 

More about the role

As a Senior FinOps Engineering, you will be responsible for:

Cloud Cost Optimization

  • Propose and implement strategies for optimizing cloud costs while maintaining performance and scalability.
  • Support the analysis and interpretation of cost patterns, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement cost-effective solutions across the company.

FinOps Governance

  • Support and collaborate to improve FinOps best practices across the organization.
  • Support and collaborate to define and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure efficient cloud financial management.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including finance, engineering, and leadership teams, providing the necessary reporting. 

Automation and Tooling

  • Propose and Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline FinOps processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud management and FinOps tools to enhance efficiency.
