Location - Hybrid working with base location of either Edinburgh, London, Manchester or Coventry

Duration - This is a 12 month fixed-term contract

 

Leveraging our Sainsbury’s brand heritage, this role will be responsible for ensuring Sainsbury’s Bank acquire, grow, and retain loyal JS and Nectar customers by working closely with the Group retail business (JS, Nectar and Argos) to embed our propositions and integrate our communications into the retail customer journeys and communications.   

The role holder will own and manage the retail marketing plan including strategic narrative. They will work closely with the customer strategy and planning team to ensure agreed group retail activity is embedded in the Bank annual and quarterly planning assumptions as well as working across the acquisition and growth team on alignment of activity to meet Banking and insurance commercial goals. They will also ensure communications adhere to retail brand guidelines and will be responsible for producing campaign evaluation and ROI. 

Ultimately the role holder will forge great stakeholder relationships across Group, demonstrating the value of Bank to Group in terms of deepening loyal customer relationships so as to secure premium owned space within Nectar, JS and Argos customer and communications journeys. Within Bank they will work closely with proposition and commercial teams on new opportunities to demonstrate the value of Bank to Group and customers.

 

What you will be doing

  • Build strong relationships with Group colleagues to ensure there is a strong reciprocal understanding of Group and Bank objectives and opportunities and shared KPIs.
  • Ensure there is always a strong customer narrative on the value the Bank can bring to deepening these relationships with the overall Group brand. 
  • Ensure we have consistent presence in retail customer journeys and communications that are aligned to our commercial and brand KPIs.
  • Ensure the Nectar, JS and Argos brand and its assets are used correctly in all Bank marketing.
  • Work with planning to ensure the Bank maximises value from Nectar media and this is reflected as best as can be in annual and quarterly plans.
  • Support use of Nectar media channels by ensuring appropriate data sharing and analysis takes place. 
  • Work with propositions manager to ensure the opportunity for Growth within the retail portfolio is clearly understood as part of any business case or planning process.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the retail marketing plan in close liaison with the customer strategy and planning team.
  • Work in and create virtual project teams as and when required to test, change or significantly lift our game. 
  • Ensure all Group marketing activity follows plan, do, review with campaign evaluations produced throughout campaigns for key activities. Ensure continuous optimisation through effective wrap up evaluations.
  • Scope, plan and execute best practice marketing campaigns that will actively contribute to the success of the product(s) vertical, customer journey and customer outcome. 
  • Work collaboratively with our wider Customer colleagues to understand our product portfolio, key product features and the commercial drivers that impact our P&L, customer segmentation, primary customer targets and our direct channel mix. 
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation of relevant regulation and managing compliance sign-off process via the partner (where necessary) and the internal teams involved. 
  • When you spot significant opportunities to drive more ROI+ income, reduce costs and/or create better customer outcomes beyond BAU (outside of your control). You will be empowered to act on this by raising or asking for a virtual project team to investigate and deliver against the opportunities.
  • Working with the SRM team this role holder will support the deployment of the SRM framework for Sainsbury's Bank partners and suppliers establishing a single view of pricing, performance, service and issue resolution, ensuring governance is measured in line with the SRM process, policy and risk appetite.

 

What you need to know and show

  • Experience in the financial services industry 
  • Exceedingly well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent team player with ability to working closely with others to deliver results.
  • Customer focused.
  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
  • Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically.
  • Strong relationship management skills 
  • Excellent written communication – business and project reports 
  • Exceptional communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g., able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level.
