As our Skills Programmes Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver skills development solutions that meet our future strategic needs. You will be accountable for developing, managing and evaluating skills development solutions, which meet identified future strategic skills requirements. What you'll do

Working closely with your peers, the Head of Learning Experience and Design and their team, and divisional teams, you will develop and deliver programmes for identified and prioritised skills. Supporting the People Director and their teams, you will manage programmes to ensure the best outcomes for managers and colleagues. You are accountable for programmes associated with our Commercial Academy, and you will work with key stakeholders across the business and recruitment to support in volume hiring campaigns for prioritised skill shortages, ensuring a great candidate experience and informed decision-making. With collaboration at the heart of your role, you will work with our Diversity and Inclusion team to ensure our skills development programmes align with our diversity objectives. Overall, your expertise in developing and implementing skills development solutions, strong communication and collaboration skills, and ability to navigate change and ambiguity will be essential in achieving the identified returns on investment and driving success in skills development at Sainsbury's.

With your experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating learning skills programmes aligned with business goals, you have expertise in, and implementation of, skills development solutions. Your ability to influence at all levels means you build great working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, while your knowledge of skills development and project management drives the success of programmes. Comfortable with ambiguity, you thrive in an environment of rapid change and advocating for change. Always proactive and self-driven, you develop your own knowledge and commercial awareness, whilst keeping up to date with innovation and change around early careers or mature careers transitions.

 

What you need to know and show

Essential

  • Effective communication and influence, diagnosing need whilst remaining focused on business priorities and outcomes.
  • Expertise in, and implementation of, skills development solutions.
  • Some project management capability is essential, supported by considered, balanced decision making.
  • Good relationship and stakeholder management skills at all levels. 

Desirable

  • Learning professional with experience of developing, implementing and evaluating learning skills programmes aligned with business goals.
  • Strong collaboration skills, inspiring and engaging others. Building great working relationships with colleagues in connected teams.
  • Proactively develops own knowledge and commercial awareness, whilst keeping update to date with innovation and change around early careers or mature careers transitions. 
  • Comfortable working in an environment of rapid change and ambiguity; an advocate for change.
  • Self-driven and collaborative.
  • Good data awareness.
  • Strong understanding of generic learning principles such as 70:20:10.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Depending on role, may manage some direct reports.
