We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. Here, everything in our stores starts out in Food Commercial. Whether it’s the product, proposition, packaging or price, or the fact that something tastes great, our team is responsible for all food items available in store, digitally and on demand. You’ll discover it’s incredibly fast-paced. People here are in it together and not afraid to take risks. They’re enthusiastic too, and their amazing leadership team is right behind them. The knowledge and experience you gain here could set you up for career moves, anywhere else in the business. So, if you’re passionate about food and just as hungry to learn, you’ll fit in perfectly.

Why join us
Joining Sainsbury's as the Lead Format Development Manager is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our in-store customer experience and drive our commercial success. As a strategic business partner, you will have the chance to work with a team of thought leaders, leveraging data and insights to influence decision-making and shape our store formats for the next five years. With a focus on delivering exceptional customer satisfaction and financial performance, you will lead and activate commercial propositions, manage large-scale projects, and make a measurable impact on our multi-million-pound capital change plan. This role will challenge your analytical skills, creativity, and ability to inspire and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the organisation. Join us and be part of a dynamic team that continually strives for excellence in retail operations and delivers an outstanding customer proposition.

What you'll do
As the Lead Format Development Manager at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering projects that have a significant impact on our in-store customer proposition. You will be responsible for driving elements of the physical commercial change programme, defining how customers will shop and experience our store formats for the next five years and beyond. Your role as a strategic business partner will involve using data-driven insights to engage with stakeholders, develop proposition briefs, and provide clear, actionable recommendations. You will lead projects through the Commercial Delivery team, ensuring effective project management, maintaining project documentation, and conducting post-investment reviews. Additionally, you will be accountable for monitoring progress, communicating updates to the commercial delivery team and stakeholders, and delivering thorough performance reviews to shape the investment programme. With your expertise in retail operations and a global perspective on store format development, you will actively contribute to delivering a successful multi-million pound capital change plan.

Who you are
As a Lead Format Development Manager at Sainsbury's, you are a strategic business partner and thought leader with a deep understanding of end-to-end retail operations and a global perspective on store format development. With your passion for serving customers and your ability to shape and deliver projects that enhance the in-store customer proposition, you play a crucial role in driving our Win in Food and Brands that Deliver strategy. Your strong analytical skills and expertise in distilling insights from complex data sources enable you to make informed decisions and develop compelling business cases. With your exceptional influencing skills, you inspire and engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring successful project delivery and continuous improvement in our day-to-day processes. Your resilience, drive, and ability to manage large projects contribute to the ongoing evolution of our store formats, delighting our customers and delivering commercial success.
