What teams exists within tech?

We recruit across a number of different areas in tech which include (but not limited to) Engineering, Architecture, Data & Analytics, Product, Digital and Information Security. Working together, all of these teams support our business from developing customer facing products to enabling our colleagues to perform with the right tools and systems.

What if I’m interested in more than one position within tech?

There is no limit to how many roles you can apply for (within reason and in-line with experience / aspirations / suitability).

I applied for a job with Sainsbury’s or Sainsbury’s Tech DTD in the past, can I still apply?

Theoretically yes, but please note that there may be exceptions – if you’re applying for a role which you have interviewed for in the last 6 months, please speak to the relevant recruiter.

When it comes to Sainsbury’s Tech, what kind of candidate are you looking for?

We like to see candidates who have a real passion for tech, along with the required technical skills. And, as with all jobs at Sainsbury’s, someone who demonstrates and lives by our core values.

Do you sponsor visas?

We do ask for a right to work in the UK – however we will assess this on a case by case basis. If you require visa sponsorship, please flag this on your application so that the Recruiter can discuss your options with you.

How does Sainsbury's support career development in tech?

We actively support our colleagues in their development, through resources, providing opportunities and time to learn. If you are early in your Technology career, our Bootcamp and Jumpstart programmes are the perfect bridge to help you make that transition into a professional Technology role. Once you are a colleague with us, we have set up ample e-learning content to help you build up those softer skills, as well as host a multitude of events, hackathons, tech meet ups and lunch & learns to fine tune those hard skills and build up your network. Tell your line manager about your aspirations so that we can tailor a development plan bespoke to you.

Do you work remotely, or hybrid?

We have a hybrid way of working, and expect our teams to be in the office for community and collaboration, and as part of the programme, we provide in person training.
